Jessica Quotes

“When we first auditioned, it had no title. I actually thought I was auditioning for Star Trek, because that was the big buzz around town, that this project was really Star Trek. The part I read for was just a generic character. It gave me no idea what the story was about. Even when I actually booked it, I didn’t know. We finally got a completed script 2 weeks before shooting. I had no idea it was a monster movie until then.”

“We wore the same outfits the whole movie. I was in dress and heels for the entire movie (laughs). There was a lot of time spent trying to figure out how I was going to do that. When I was costumed for the movie, we still didn’t know what it was about, the wardrobe people or myself. I wouldn’t have given the ok to high heels if I had known (laughs). But after we shot the short trailer, the costumes were locked in. I was actually half-way through shooting and I had to sprint and found I couldn’t run. They made me stunt shoes, so that was nice (laughs).”

Critics Quotes

“There will undoubtedly be those who don’t enjoy it, and some will have probably decided on that before seeing a frame. Anti-populist party poopers could very well pick apart the fact that the characters are archetypes and that there’s no hidden depth beneath the fright (although you could pub rant for hours about political subtext). But unmissable cinema does not have to be about mellifluous dialogue, intricate framing or enriching the mind or soul. It can just as legitimately come from a sensory experience like no other, that you can feel nowhere else but in that dark room in front of that silver screen. And you have never experienced anything like Cloverfield.”
- Empire Magazine

Cloverfield is one of those films you wish you could see for the very first time again because the impact will just never be the same on second viewing. I treasured the experience of getting to see this in the theater and it will forever leave a mark on me. “This is a story that needs to be told…” there are still good movies to be made and people who have the heart to make them.”
