Oh Canada!
From Nylon for Guys by Eric Alt

Canadian actress Jessica Lucas has everything going for her - now all she has to do is reconcile her blossoming career with her reluctance to cross the border.

"Every time i come to Los Angeles, I'm reminded how blessed i am," says Jessica Lucas, a smile playing on her face, "to live in Vancouver."

Sitting in the relaxed café of the Chamberlain Hotel (the kind of place where, as i did earlier, you can spy André "3000" Benjamin nonchalantly collecting his mail from the front desk wearing a black trench and green pajama pants), the 22-year-old sips from a tall glass of iced water and surveys the garden view. Even in this tranquil environment, Lucas is clearly anxious to get back to the truly "laid back, low-key" lifestyle she enjoys up north.

Lucas Films
From W Magazine by Christine Lennon

Closed sets, fake movie titles, confidentiality agreements and a covert marketing campaign have kept a seductive veil of secrecy over Cloverfield, a creature-attacks-New York thriller from megaproducer J.J. Abrams that’s set to open in January. But, of course, there are bound to be leaks. And word has it that Jessica Lucas, 22, a member of the ensemble cast of six, is poised to be its breakout star.

Just don’t tell her that. “I have no desire to be famous,” groans the actress, a North Vancouver native who is best known (if she is known at all) as Veronica “Ronnie” Lake on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and as a soccer buddy of Amanda Bynes’s character in the teen movie She’s the Man.

"Who's That Girl" from Page Six by Patty Adams

Cloverfield's Jessica Lucas knows how the movie ends, but she's not giving it away.

Imagine if you were told a big juicy secret that millions of people - all over America - are dying to know. That's exactly what's happening Jessica Lucas, 22, since she's in on the plot of Cloverfield, the producer J.J Abrams's closely guarded, NYC-set disaster thriller. "Luckily i know how to keep a secret," the up and coming actress says. Jessica, an Abrams-worshipping Lost fan, was thrilled to be cast - even though the script had more booby traps than an Indiana Jones flick.

The Monster Break of Cloverfield star Jessica Lucas
From Venice Magazine by Terry Keefe

The schedule of Jessica Lucas has suddenly gotten extremely full. In the week after the record-breaking opening of Cloverfield, the young actress is so busy with auditions that we’ve had to do this phone interview at 11:30 at night. Understandable under the circumstances, as is her obvious continued enthusiasm for the project. The film, directed by Matt Reeves, and produced by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk, arrived like the giant creature at the center of the film to eat the usually morbid January box office, and its leads, relative unknowns for the most part until now, are suddenly on every studio casting list. Lucas plays Lily, one of the group of Manhattan twentysomethings who get stuck inside the rampage of a giant monster of unknown origin, as they attempt to save a friend trapped inside a demolished building. The video tapes recorded by one of them during their rescue mission are found in the remains of Central Park and form the narrative of the film.

Cinema Confidential Interview
From Cinema Confidential

It’s finally January 18, 2008 and the cast of “Cloverfield” were in high spirits. What started as a simple teaser trailer in front of “Transformers” later escalated into an Internet phenomenon, and little did the cast and crew of “Cloverfield” know that they would be working on what would be one of the most anticipated movies of 2008.

Michael Stahl-David (Rob), Odette Yustman (Beth), Jessica Lucas (Lily), T.J. Miller (Hud), Lizzy Caplan (Marlena) and Mike Vogel may not be household names yet but as indicated by their record-breaking box office opening, they’ve entertained thousands of audiences this past weekend and look for “Cloverfield” to continue smashing records.
